Accent Laser Before and After

March 9, 2012

Accent laser is a new technology used by cosmetic surgeons to tighten and tone the skin and stimulate collagen production. The system uses Dual-layer radiofrequency (RF) thermotherapy. It is not a means of ablation (which means it won’t vaporize your skin cells). Being non-invasive, you won’t end up looking like a zombie after your treatment.

This procedure has multiple uses. If you have dimpled skin on your buttocks or thighs, you can ask the cosmetic surgeon to use accent laser as a form of cellulite treatment. You might need a few sessions, but nothing really works to eradicate cellulite naturally unless you give up alcohol, fatty food and your desk job and hit the gym regularly and even then you can be hard pressed to get rid of the orange peel look. Some physicians use the 1.5 needle dermaroller for cellulite, but accent laser does present with better results.

Another great benefit is non-surgical skin tightening. This means if your skin is starting to sag on your face, neck or anywhere on your body, you don’t have to go under the knife to tightening it back up again. Getting a facelift can be quite dramatic and is only really suitable for older persons with extreme facial sagging. So, if you feel you need a little bit of nip and tuck without the dramatic recovery, accent laser could work wonders for you.

Natasha had the accent laser performed on her bat wings. The laser seems to have smoothed out the cellulite on the saggy skin but if she really wanted to get the saggy skin removed she would need arm liposuction or brachioplasty. The after photo was taken a week later.

Causes of cellulite

Firstly you may wish to know what cellulite is, it is the word which describes the dimpled looking skin on any part of your body caused by fat deposits. It has the ability to appear on most parts of the body especially you thighs, buttocks, abdomen and is known to mostly come at the time of puberty. Cellulite has also been known as orange peel syndrome in the medical world as well as hail damage, cottage cheese. There are considered to be three grades of cellulite and it’s severity but we won’t get into that at the moment because it’s not really relevant, basically if you can see it it’s there.

Factors contributing to cellulite

Everyday clothing – Wearing tight clothing restricts blood flow which may contribute to developing cellulite. Avoid tight elastic underwear which will increase your risk to thigh cellulite.

LifestyleRegular smokers are at an increased risk of cellulite. People who avoid exercise especially those who stand or sit in a fixed position for prolonged periods throughout the day.

Diet – Eating too much fatty food, carbs, salt and people who avoid fiber.

Hormonal factors – These play a vital role. Medical specialists believe the thyroid hormone, prolactin, insulin, estrogen and noradrenaline are cellulite producers.

Genetics – Cellulite is triggered by certain genes that we are born with and we are unable to help. People who have these genes must put in extra work by exercising and dieting trying to stay healthy to avoid cellulite development.

Before treatment

You should try losing as much weight as possible so that when the laser is applied it has optimum effects. If you are already thin or of normal weight and suffer from cellulite than you will be right having Accent laser treatments. Don’t expect miracles with the Accent laser but a reduced amount of cellulite at the end of it. See a local cosmetic or plastic surgeon that will be performing the treatment on you to get an idea of the results; ideally ask to see before and after photos of their patients. Have an idea of which part of the body you’ll wish to have the procedure done on. If you wish to see how the Accent laser works please feel free to check out the YouTube video that we’ve included a bit lower on this page.

Risks, side effects & complications

As with any cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure/treatment there are risks and complications that come along with it. There are several reviews on the Internet and we will try giving as much negative information about it her, please don’t be put off by the treatment though as this machine is ultimately FDA approved and a lot of research went behind approving it for the general public. Several people report online that the Accent laser has no effect on cellulite at all with their own personal experience. One person says that anything which heats melting cellulite can also melt fat that can leave you looking disfigured especially around your facial area and jowls. A few people say treatment of the Accent laser is very expensive and there is no guarantee at all of any results whatsoever. Basically there is very little risk of complication with the treatment besides having no reduction effect. The majority of people say the laser is painful and feels a little like cigarette burns but some people have a higher tolerance to pain than others.

Recovery time

With the Accent XL laser there is virtually no recovery time. You just get up after the treatment and all is finished. As you can see in the video that we’ve included below the patient feels very little pain and after the treatment is complete there is no bruising, scarring or marks left.

After surgery

You should be right to do any activity you wish as there is virtually no downtime. Hopefully the treatment worked for you and you notice a difference in the amount of cellulite in the treated area. We advise you not to get more than two treatments spaced a month apart if you see no results at all as some people claim to have more than five to no effect.

The cost of an accent laser treatment varies substantially. It can cost anywhere between $200 for a minor treatment up to $5,000 for a full body treatment. The average cost is between $1,000 to $2,000 though.

I had the accent laser touch up my inner and outer thighs and it really seemed to work. I was amazed because I didn’t need liposuction anymore and all I wanted was just for the cellulite bumps to go away and for the skin to be smoothed out, I’m not sure if it actually melted away the fat or just smoothed things out but I’m very happy. I would recommend the accent laser for anyone who isn’t brave enough to undergo liposuction or anything major or invasive such as that.
